Willie Nelson Cuts Short Salt Lake City Show Due to Respiratory Issues

Willie Nelson was forced to cut short his concert in Salt Lake City last night (Aug. 13) due to respiratory issues caused by elevation.

The 84-year-old county music icon was performing at USANA Amphitheatre, which has an elevation of 4,300 feet, when he began to experience breathing problems and exited the stage. A bandmate told the crowd that Willie needed a break, before the show was ultimately canceled.

Willie posted a message on Twitter this monring (Aug. 14) to let everyone know he was feeling better, stating, “This is Willie, I am sorry to have to cut the SLC show short tonight. The altitude got to me. I am feeling better now & headed for lower ground.

Willie was forced to cancel a handful of shows in January and February due to an undisclosed illness, but has been touring steadily since then. Willie is slated to perform in Saratoga, Calif., on Aug. 15.
