In a new interview with Billboard, Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductee Bill Medley shares the inspiration behind his new release, Straight From the Heart, a country album featuring duets with iconic artists like Michael McDonald and Vince Gill. Despite initially believing his recording days were over, the 84-year-old, known for his memorable hits with The Righteous Brothers, opens up about the new album’s nostalgic tracks that span decades of music history, including a cover of Hank Williams’ classic, “I’m So Lonesome I Could Cry.” “I would love to do 10 more of these albums, and pay tribute to a million more great country songwriters and singers,” Medley said of his new collection, which was released on Friday (February 21) via Curb Records. Medley’s album marks a significant comeback in his music career, with the music legend admitting, “I think [producer] Fred [Mollin] was just interested in getting my voice on tape while I was still able to do it.” (Billboard)
