During a recent interview with the Associated Press to promote his 76th solo studio album, Last Leaf on the Tree, Willie Nelson reflected on his mortality while sharing his creative plans for the future. The 91-year-old country legend says his new record doesn’t represent the “last” of anything, and that he isn’t very concerned about death but knows that the end is inevitable. “I’m not worried about it [death],” Nelson said. “I don’t feel bad. I don’t hurt anywhere. I don’t have any reason to worry about dying. But I don’t know anybody who’s lived forever. I take pretty good care of myself. And I feel like I’m in pretty good shape physically. Mentally? That’s another story,” he joked. When asked how he wants to be remembered, Nelson said, “I had a good time. And I did what I came here to do: make music.” Willie also revealed he has a new album already finished, and he doesn’t want to stop there. “I hope there’s a few more,” he says. (Audacy)
